As we where heading down to our practice sessions last Friday we made a quick stop off at American Fork Harbor to take a pull behind the new Super Air Nautique 230 with some of the guys from Croft Marine. If you have not taken a look at the new Air Nautique’s I recommended it. The new interior design has a lot to offer. Starting with the walk through swim platform all the way up to the play pen style bow. The next thing you notice is the ton of storage room and the numerous seating configurations. I like how you can can set up a lot of rear face seating. As Dewey jumped in the water to take a session behind the fully weighted down Nautique I took the wheel. As I hit the throttle the boat quickly got up to plane and the ‘Zero-Off‘ GPS cruise control took over. I was impressed with how well the Zero-Off held the speed with very little change. After playing with everything inside the boat I was excited to take the wake for a spin. I have ridden behind Air Natiques in the past as was expecting to get the same steep wakes that I had seen before, but this was not the case. The wake still has a ton of girth to it (even in Utah Lakes 5ft of water), but the new Nautique throws a clean wake with enough transition to be a comfortable launch pad for any level of rider. The real test would be to see how this wake shapes out in deeper water.
Overall you will find that the new Air Nautique has a lot to offer, and despite this being the first year Croft Marine has carried Nautique, they are very knowledgeable and eager to answer any questions you can throw at them. Don’t take my word for it, head down to Croft Marine and check one out for yourself. Croft will be out at American Fork Harbor a few Fridays this summer giving a pull to whomever is interested. Also make sure to keep an eye on WakeUtah for a chance to ride behind the new Nautique during a meet up session in the near future.

The second stop of the IWA point series is soon upon us. WakeUtah would like to provide you the opportunity to improve and dial your run, this Friday. To do this, myfriend, Mitch Mann, VP Sales and Marketing for M & M Watersports, has offered to bring his personal boat to help us out. Mitch is coming to show off the new Centurion Enzo 230. The Enzo is one of the most loaded boats on the market: Perfect Pass, 4-stage ballast system, surf tech v-hull, and the switchblade, which can change the size and shape of the wake from mellow to steep and anything in between in seconds, just to name a few.
For nearly 20 years M & M Watersports has been a Centurion exclusive dealer, the oldest standing Centurion dealer in the world. This experience earned them the honor of being named the number 1 dealership worldwide. Troy Mann, owner, has attributed some of this success to his staff, from the sales to the service. Also to the sport of wakesurfing, which has taken off, and has pushed Centurion to create exclusive, innovative, designed boats, which are, “by far, the best wakesurfing boats made.” As said by Troy Mann.

If you need one last session to practice your run, or if you just want to come check out the new Enzo and grab a handful or two of Zotes Sunflower Seeds, I’ll see you on the lake.

Most of us are sun worshippers. When it’s raining and the wind is blowing, the lakes are not in the best condition. When a storm comes, with any chance of magnitude, most are tying down yard furniture and closing windows. I choose to use my time building rails, just for the opportunity that arises about once a year. Multiple parks around the valley will get backed up, and flood. This begins the park session.
If it starts to rain and puddles grow big enough to ride, make sure to look for Dewey’s Rail, and the WakeUtah crew.
If you know of a possible winch site feel free to contact, email (dewey@wakeutah.com) or call me anytime so we can set up a session. (801) 706-6820. For more info on a suitable location check out the story a little way down this very page.

Mastercraft is sending out Pro wakeboarder Will Christien to put on a demo and teach all day long. $25 covers a day of riding on an 2008 X-Star and lunch. It’s going to be at Echo this Friday June 20 2008. Get registered soon before it fills up! Call Utah Water Sports to register @ 801-495-2400

Marc Glover is an enthusiastic young rider who is consistently rising amongst the local scene. He has won and placed in countless different events; including placing third, outlaw division, at the most recent IWA stop at Yuba, and first place in the 19 and under category at Idaho’s first rail jam, Wake in the Park, put on by Idaho Watersports. He also took home first prize in the IWA point series, advanced division, last year. Marc is an extremely nice guy who loves the sport of wakeboarding and is always ready to take a pull. Glove is a universal rider who can throw down and progress behind any boat or winch, including my own.
Glove has mad skills and a clean style on the wake and on sliders. Behind the boat, you might first notice his huge raley. Marc likes to get upside down with all sorts of tantrums, backrolls, scarecrows, toe side rolls, roll to reverts, and who know how many more. He can also spin in many different ways; backside 180’s, front and backside 3 heel and toe sides adding a slob and mute grab, a 540 or two, and even a switch 3. It doesn’t stop there, along with all this awesomeness Glove will throw in a grab on many, if not all, of these tricks.
Marc brings the awesome to slider sessions as well. No matter what rail creation he is hitting, whether it be mine, a competition, or a gnarly, Brothers Allphin, home brew set up usually with a huge gap, Glove can throw down something fierce. Clean board and lip slides will usually start Marc’s session. He doesn’t mess around too long before pulling out different 3 combinations, 5’s, and beyond, spinning both ways of course. Then comes the illusive 270 on, and many other stylish moves, and spins.
Check out Marc’s videos, send him a message, then call him up to have a session. With his deep bag of tricks and winning personality you will not be disappointed. Keep an eye on what Marc Glover will be doing this season and beyond. Stay tuned to WakeUtah for all the latest and greatest that will come from this outstanding local rider. - Great job Glove! Keep up the good times.
