On Tuesday night January 26th The Parks Documentary received the award for “Best Biography” and was nominated for “Best Editing” and “Best Film” at the X-Dance film festival in Salt Lake City. As you should know, X-Dance is an annual film festival for all movies created in and around action and outdoor sports. This accolade from the action sports film community is huge recognition for wakeboarding and particularly for Parks and Alliance Visual Experiences.
Most people involved in the wakeboarding and wakeskating microcosm are aware of how good the Parks Documentary is. Here at Alliance we all believed that the story of Parks Bonifay was bigger than just our community and that it would appeal to a broader market helping to tie us closer to other action sports and help our sports and industry grow. Arguably the Parks Documentary will help to introduce the sport to more people through the incredible life story of one of our most charismatic athletes. This award from X-Dance will put the Parks Documentary on the fast track to even more recognition.
A few of the other standout films to show at X-Dance were Project X , Mt Saint Elias, Modern Collective, The Drifter and Signatures. Go to www.x-dance.com for the entire lineup of the 35 films that were accepted (there were over 140 entries) to the festival.
Special thanks to Dave Patterson for being awesome.
